Job Summary:
Manage shipments of aftermarket, consumer, and capital equipment for all modes of transportation, Domestic and International. Work directly with transportation carriers and freight forwarders to negotiate freight rates/tariffs, conduct carrier invoice audits, and claims process. Prepare all documentation required for transportation including hazardous materials. Obtains freight quotes and makes the best business decision based on service and cost. Works very closely with Customer Service, Contract Management, Purchasing, and Service Departments as well as installers, external carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Identify best routing for the execution of our shipments based on product readiness, trucking, and ocean carrier’s services availability.
This requires load tendering with contracted carriers, coordination of shipment arrivals with distributors, customers, and installers. Interface with warehouse on product availability/inventory levels to determine their impact on shipping. Request and administrate bookings with our ocean freight forwarders. Work closely with domestic carriers to ensure service levels meet division requirements and maintain a good working partnership with carrier base. Produce all documentation in compliance with the Export Administration Regulations and all other government agencies.

Freight payment- Responsible for managing Brunswick Bowing’s freight payment company and analysis of freight costs. This includes accuracy of account coding and freight allocation, communication of carrier contract rate changes, problem resolution, and setting internal policy to insure accuracy of freight coding. Prepare and monitor freight expense reports and insure supplier and internal compliance with routing guide instructions. Code Invoices that are sent to Muskegon first for review.

Invoicing all international and military orders while tracking fixed and variable freight costs of international shipments including duties, taxes, and fees to be sure that all expenses are billed back to the customer when possible.

Communicate delivery delays to Brunswick customers, Contract Management and/or the installer promptly so alternate site arrangements can be made.

Consolidate customer’s orders to minimize freight costs by load planning to ensure weekly sailings, full containers, or less than container shipment dates are achieved.

Freight Rate Quotes - Provide freight quotes to both internal and external customers. Ensure quotes are accurate and competitive.

Rush-Mail – Process all rush-mail database shipments daily in a timely manner. Work closely with Distribution Center Supervisor and the warehouse employees to pick, pack and ship rush-mails the same day or date requested by the originator.

Implement improved cost/time saving processes/ procedures.
Support credit department in documentation preparation for Documentary Collections and Letters of Credit

Carrier Claims/Products Returns - Manage freight damage/loss claims with carriers. Gather any documentation needed to support claim and file within time frame as determined for each mode of transportation. Keep log to determine the number of claims filed each year, noting any repetitive problems. Work with the warehouse, buyers and carriers to change any packaging or loading procedures that resolve potential future claims.
Product Returns - Manage and arrange returns from the field while utilizing the most cost-effective transportation method. Ensure established process is being followed for returns, including use of a RA or PTR. Work closely with carrier, installer, and C&R on all returns.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Logistics. Excellent communication skills, problem solving, and negotiating skills. Must be well organized, flexible to change, and proficient in Microsoft office applications. Should be quick thinking with a leadership mentality and the ability to make modifications. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 49CFR, IATA & IMDG Hazardous Materials Certifications mandatory.
Education Level
Associate degree with major in Business Management or Logistics/Supply Chain or five years minimum work experience in Logistics is required.
