Job description
DISPATCHER - OVER THE ROAD; A dispatcher must be able to make decisions and direct a diverse group of drivers. He or she must be able to deal with people in a variety of emotional states, while remaining calm and professional.
Job requirements: 1 yr. exp. required for over the road dispatcher. High School diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
- Effectively prioritize situations and make decisions based on the information received
- Able to handle multiple tasks to receive and communicate information to and from customers and drivers ensuring information is dispatched in a timely manner
- Availability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Willingness to maintain respectful working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, customers and drivers
- Possess a clear and understandable telephone

Dispatchers perform the following duties:
- Answer phone calls from customers and drivers
- Monitor and dispatch multiple drivers
- Maintain communications with customers and drivers
