Responsibilities:
You'll support Underwriters by reviewing incoming correspondence and applications to determine proper procedural action. You'll play a critical role examining information provided in the application and related resources to determine if risk meets established eligibility guidelines. You'll consult with agent or obtain reports for the Underwriter when additional information is necessary. You'll route risk-involved matters that are beyond an assigned authority level to the Underwriter for evaluation. your efforts will help maintain established department service and quality standards.

Responsibilities:
As an Underwriting Assistant, you'll evaluate information and perform key underwriting functions in support of the Underwriting staff. We'll trust you to assure risks meet established eligibility guidelines and complies with company and regulatory standards. You'll review information for standard new business, renewals, quotes and endorsements within established time and quality standards.
You'll support Underwriters by reviewing incoming correspondence and applications to determine proper procedural action. You'll play a critical role examining information provided in the application and related resources to determine if risk meets established eligibility guidelines. You'll consult with agent or obtain reports for the Underwriter when additional information is necessary. You'll route risk-involved matters that are beyond an assigned authority level to the Underwriter for evaluation. your efforts will help maintain established department service and quality standards.
We'll count on you to:
- Evaluate standard renewal commercial property/casualty accounts and endorsements, within authority level, by reviewing updated account information, claims experience, risk control surveys, risk acceptability and pricing.
- Consult agent for additional information when necessary.
- Pull third party data into underwriting file as required.
- Answer basic underwriting questions from agents.
- Route risk-involved matters to Underwriter for evaluation.
- Review final policies for all lines of business and routes to agent.
- Bachelor or Associates Degree from college or technical school preferred; or three to five years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Commercial rating experience desired.
- Completion of or working toward AINS, AU or similar designation.

Possess strong customer orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and quickly and professionally respond to inquiries from customers.

Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to company values and guiding principles.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
