Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Low Earth Orbit Propulsion Engineer in DARPAs Tactical Technology Office (TTO).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead periodic (monthly or bi-weekly) performer assessments to analyze program, technical and schedule risks; develop risk mitigation strategies; communicate findings to program manager
  • Technical evaluations and guidance on reports, briefings, and other performer communications
  • Presentation and report preparation
  • Support further research solicitation and proposal evaluations activities associated with materials for extreme environments
  • Program administration, including development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management, project cost estimation, technology transfer efforts, as well as supporting technical reviews
  • Stakeholder engagement, including programs across the various DoD agencies and services.
  • Interagency engagement, including coordination activities with the DoD, DoE, and potentially international partnerships.
  • Attending and organizing program reviews/site visits/field tests.
  • Coordinate performer meetings, assess performer task progress and projected performer outcomes, and ensuring that project management best practices are followed both at subject performers, within the independent verification and validation (IV&V) activities funded by DARPA, and within DARPA itself.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience or familiarity with the atmospheric and environmental conditions of VLEO and related propulsion systems.

  • Experience with experimental testing and/or modeling and simulation of space technologies.

  • Demonstrated an ability to learn new subjects and gain rapid insights into current and next generation research topics, and communicate technical concepts in a clear, understandable fashion in slide decks and documents.

Desired capabilities and characteristics:

  • At least two years of experience in novel space propulsion systems
  • Excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to perform proof reading and quality control on technical documents and slides
  • Excellent communication skills - both written (to include PowerPoint) and oral; must be able to concisely summarize and efficiently communicate the essential elements of a concept quantitatively and comprehensively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas
  • Self-starter who is willing to work in an inter-disciplinary work environment
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests
  • Flexible and readily adaptable to change
  • Previous experience interacting with the DoD or the Intelligence Community

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Clearance: Active DoD Secret, but eligible to apply for TS/SCI.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
