We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team! We are open Monday-Thursday from 7:30am-5:30pm and Fridays from 7:30am-1pm. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the veterinarian in the care of our patients and their owners, and to provide detailed and correct client education so that they will have the knowledge they need to keep their pets safe and healthy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Caring for hospitalized patients by making sure they are clean and comfortable; and feeding, walking, and medicating then as directed by the DVM.

· Preparing animals for examinations and medical procedures, such as TPR; drawing blood for testing or lab work; and setting up tests as needed.

· Assisting the DVM during examinations and other procedures.

· Providing comfort and client education to the client.

· Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring and assisting in surgery as needed.

· Invoicing surgeries and other anesthetic procedures; and preparing requested estimates

· Preparing medications for patients with the proper instructions from the DVM.

· Properly cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining of surgical and nonsurgical equipment.

· Maintaining all lab equipment. Ex: Quality control and cleaning the autoclave on a regular schedule.

· Running in-house and preparing send-out bloodwork.

· Stocking of all medical supplies daily and as needed.

· Administering SQ, IV and IM injections under the supervision of the DVM.

· Calling owners with results once DVM has reviewed.

· Making referrals to specialty and emergency hospitals per DVM request.

· Other duties assigned to you by administration or DVM.

Prerequisites:

· Must be able to deal with high-pressure situations, including emergency care and surgeries.

· Must have good attitude and excellent people skills.

· Must be able to provide passionate and effective communication.

· Must have a team member attitude.

· Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

· Must be able to frequently walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift up to 50 lbs.

· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally as well as in legible writing.

Pay: $11.00 - $20.00 per hour
