Vice President of Operations - Childcare Center Job at Whiz Kidz Preschools
Whiz Kidz Is looking for Vice President of Operations to join our already existing dynamic leadership team.
The primary purpose of the Vice President, Operations is to oversee WhizKidz’s Campuses, as well as to serve on the Senior Leadership Team. WhizKidz promises clients that when they join us, they’re joining a community, a school family. WhizKidz strives to create a safe place for children to grow and thrive; as well as offering parents the convenience of all-inclusive care fostering a place for parents to meet and create a support system to navigate parenting together.
Departments responsible for delivery of this promise include Campus Management, Curriculum, Programs. The VP of Operations will oversee each campus Director, and the adherence to the established processes within and across each campus. The VP of Operations will also look to improve process, build greater efficiencies, increase safety, and build infrastructure to support growth.
The VP, Operations should establish “best practices” for processes and outcomes, as well as meet or exceed the defined best-practice metrics for their areas of responsibility, and the business in total. The VP, Operations owns setting up the business processes, work instructions, and desktop procedures that supports the Campuses who support students and family needs and create accountability to achieve company objectives.
SCOPE
Under broad supervision, this position directly reports to the CEO. The VP, Operations is responsible for the following departments:
- Campuses
- Programs
- Curriculum
- Facility Expansion
In executing position responsibilities, the VP, Operations will work closely and support the following internal positions/departments:
- Sales & Marketing
- Accounting
- Human Resources
- General Administration
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee Campus Directors.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations shaped to company values.
- Manage discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train additional staff in the campuses and departments as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish, implement, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations team.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and the appropriate departments to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects and systems.
- Set and meet sales, enrollment, and profitability metrics
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources.
- Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, capital expenditures, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
- Establish, communicate, and implement campus-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
- Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for all campuses and projects.
- Establish and administer the Operations department budget.
- Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in the industry and how it would benefit the Operations department.
- Identify training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Management
- Develop and maintain a documented system of processes, work instructions, and desktop procedures and assures departmental adherence.
- Manage outsourced functions across the business to assure that proper controls and ROI are in place.
- Mentor, develop, and promote members of the team.
Reporting
- Lead Weekly Operations L-10 Meeting with Department Managers where KPI’s are reported, and issues are processed.
- Participate in Weekly Leadership L-10 Meeting and report Operation KPI’s to the leadership team.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- In partnership with the business owner and Chief Financial Officer, calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, as well as a reporting system that monthly gives all budget owners clear indication of performance to budget, prior year, and rolling twelve-month trends.
- Lead the production of the annual budget and forecasts for Operations.
- Provide insight and planning to act on variances from the budget and report significant issues to management improving the company’s performance.
- Provide for a system of management cost reports.
- Provide operational analyses as needed, for capital investments, various business projects, employee investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations, and other areas as required.
Compliance
- Assure the company’s compliance with regulatory issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
- Master’s Degree, a plus
Experience:
- 5 – 7+ years of relevant experience
- Thorough knowledge of business operations
- Planning, project, and management experience
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Pleasant and courteous phone presence
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment to achieve goals.
- Results-oriented and self-motivated to achieve targets and goals.
