The Muhlenberg College Chemistry Department invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2023-2024 academic year, beginning in August 2023. Candidates with interest in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or Chemical Education are encouraged to apply. A PhD in chemistry at the time of hire is required, and teaching experience is preferred. Depending on area of expertise, responsibilities will be in either General, Physical, or Organic chemistry and will include lecture, laboratories and recitations, with a teaching load equivalent to three courses per semester. Successful completion of background checks, including but not limited to child abuse clearance, education and criminal background are required.

The Chemistry Department is well-equipped with a new 400-MHz NMR spectrometer, several FTIR and GC-MS systems, microwave reactors, and a wide range of spectroscopic, chromatographic, and other instrumentation. We are a collegial department that values engaged teaching and inclusive learning experiences for all of our students. The candidate must be committed to undergraduate teaching and will have the opportunity, if desired, to engage in research with undergraduates.
