Visiting Lecturer - Sociology/Criminal Justice Job at Elmhurst University
The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a visiting lecturer in sociology, to begin the fall of 2023. We are particularly interested in generalist candidates with experience teaching across the undergraduate curriculum, e.g., Class and Status, Theory, Research Methods, Social Problems, etc. The teaching load is eight courses per year.
Essential Functions
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and service, creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body, and the potential for excellence in research.
- We seek teacher-scholars committed to public sociology and social justice.
- Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential.
- Responsibilities for this position include course preparation, teaching, grading and being available to students who have questions or require extra help.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- A keen interest in engaging students and fostering their learning.
- Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminal Justice.
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
