The Role

Mission

A Material Handler helps maintain warehouse stock and assists in fulfilling orders by receiving, storing and distributing material, equipment and products while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

HOURS: Able to work a flexible starting schedule and/or overtime on Saturdays

• Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (Pick, Pack, Wrap, Label, Load, and Ship)
• Read work order or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers

• May drive a forklift or other machinery in order to complete tasks • Complete daily forklift checklist

• Operate all forklifts in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
• Maintain accurate bin locations and inventory counts
• Report any discrepancies
• Willingness to learn multiple stations within the department
• Maintain the cleanliness of workstation and assist with entire department housekeeping
• Perform other duties as assigned

Previous work history

• Experience in a warehouse environment preferred
• Experience in operating warehouse distribution equipment such as dock stocker, cherry picker, reach truck, turret truck and sit down preferred
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, walk, stand for extended periods of time, and reach frequently
• Excellent attention to detail
• Can-do attitude with commitment to reaching targets and goals
• Interact effectively with others in a team environment
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
