ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team


Contracts Lead/Manager within Upstream Procurement supporting Wells Services contracting. The role’s primary responsibility is to maximize the total value of the agreement portfolio throughout the purchase-to-pay process (from strategy to implementation), while ensuring operational integrity. This role supports Wells Services contracting, globally, for Drilling, Completions, and Workover Operations including but not limited to directional drilling, wireline, fluids, remote operating vehicles, mudlogging, casing handling, well testing, liner hangers, and cementing scopes.

What you will do


  • Develop, own, and maintain a portfolio of contracts within Upstream – Wells Services Procurement
  • Create and implement innovative contracting strategies
  • Identify business value and rationalization opportunities within the portfolio
  • Provide commercial guidance and contractual knowledge to business line contacts
  • Execute competitive bids, concurrent negotiations, auctions, renewals, etc. for given portfolio
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders via in-person meetings, facility tours, lunch & learns, trade shows, market events, etc.
  • Develop market expertise – follow market trends, know the supplier landscape, and learn about the latest technologies
  • Know supplier capabilities and performance trends
  • Identify efficiencies by continually reviewing contract leakage, overheads, third-party markups, etc.
  • Test appropriate compensation methods (unit rate vs. T&M vs. lump sum, etc.)
  • Track cost avoidance, cost mitigation, and business enhancement results
  • Understand and monitor how agreements are being utilized at both the transactional and operational level

About you


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant Business or Engineering degree from accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of Supply Chain experience, preferably in Procurement/Purchasing (contracting, sourcing, buying, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including use of sound judgement
  • Effective negotiator and influencer at all levels of the organization – both internal & external
  • Ability to create strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Effective collaborator
  • Team player with the ability to adapt to changing requirements or deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements or deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative & personal ownership
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and deliver results


Preferred Qualifications/ Experience


  • Procurement (purchasing) and/or sales expertise
  • Oil and gas industry experience
  • Category-specific knowledge: Drilling & Exploration, Rigs, Upstream Operations, Geoscience, Capital Projects, and/or Buying
  • Requisition/purchase-to-pay process
  • Total system cost models
  • Procurement Methods like RFIs, competitive bids, auctions, etc.
  • Negotiation with challenging counterparties
  • Enterprise resource planning systems (GEP, SAP, etc.)
  • Project planning / execution
  • International business experience
