JOB SUMMARY.

The Winthrop CLEAR Program Police Co-responder provides direct services to children, adolescents, and adults in crisis. This clinician will work collaboratively with the Winthrop Police and be available to assist WPD officers with calls for individuals exhibiting signs of mental distress, to provide assessments in the community or at the police station and deliver rapid access to community mental health, substance abuse and psychiatry services, including urgent linkage to Boston Emergency Services Team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

• Actively participate in the ride-along function of the Co-Response model.
• Provides behavioral health assessments to individuals in the Town of Winthrop who are in crisis
• Provide initial crisis intervention services to individuals in need, along with crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling and/or follow up care when appropriate.
• Serve as primary liaison to law enforcement on assigned shift.
• Maintain linkages with law enforcement and community agencies by providing case consultation, and problem resolution
• Provide information and referral services to individuals in crisis.
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems; provide other clinicians with managed care information and resources pertinent to the crises being managed.
• Maintain necessary documentation, data entry, and records in accordance with program requirements
• Must adhere to BMC’s RESPECT behavior standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, education, counseling, or related field

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

• LCSW/ LICSW or LMHC license preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working with crisis intervention services desirable
• Experience in health or hospital settings desirable

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Must possess excellent assessment and interviewing skills.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily while adhering to professional ethics.
• Ability to function and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team.
• Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of racial and ethnic populations.
• An organized work style, good follow through skills and ability to keep organized written documentation
• Demonstrated skills in the provision of services in a multicultural environment.
• Bilingual or multi-lingual skills (beyond that of English) appropriate to the patient population served is a plus.
• Preference given to applicants who reflect the cultural and language diversity of the Boston Medical Center patient population.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
