Richmond County Government is seeking a Full-Time Work First Income Maintenance Caseworker II
This caseworker will be responsible for determining and/or redetermining applicants/clients’ eligibility for one or two of the income maintenance programs at the Department of Social Services and/or performing all functions in the Work First, and Work First-EA Programs. This includes collecting evidence by interviewing the client, determine eligibility, obtaining required information, completing initial applications, and/or completing schedule program reviews. Employees explain the program(s) requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate. Employees report to an Income Maintenance Supervisor.
Work involves intake, processing, or review in one or two of the following programs Work First, Emergency Assistance and Services to low income families (under 200% of poverty). In the intake process, employees are responsible for obtaining all pertinent data concerning the client’s family composition, financial, employment, and health status. Employees may also be involved in processing client’s applications through the verification of all information obtained during intake. Work involves the redetermination or review of the client’s cases on a periodic basis to re-verify the client’s eligibility for continued participation in the program. The employee’s responsibilities for determining the client’s initial or continuing eligibility for any given program will depend upon the function or combination of functions performed.
Guidelines: employees refer to the Food Stamps, Work First, and Medicaid manuals in performing all functions required to complete eligibility determination process. Guidelines are subject to periodic change. Correspondence and memoranda from State regulatory agencies are also used in interpreting policy directives.
Medicaid Duties (Specific)
Medicaid IMC II completes Medicaid work in the E&E system including Intake, Acceptance, Eligibility Determinations, Outputs, On-going case maintenance, Customer Service (only for activities related to eligibility determination or on-going case maintenance), and Maintenance and routine update to the system (NC FAST).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computer skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain date and to explain and interpret rules regulations and procedures.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements- One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Employees will be required to attend training and pass required tests.
Salary- Range $31,393 to $34,481 annually for qualified applicants.
