JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE X-RAY TECH:

· Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.

• Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
• Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Confirms that all persons in the room are appropriately shielded before activating x-ray.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to company’s policies and procedures.
• Performs examination according to study protocols for each individual study.
• Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continued education, training and interaction to other radiology technicians.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, policies, and OSHA regulations.
• Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition. Reports any malfunction or damage to management.
• Verifying each patient’s identity against all records and reports to be reviewed/documented during the visit.
• Documenting into chart a brief narrative outlining the patient’s reason for the visit. Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history, current mediations, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate. Assisting provider in clinic by preparing and/or administering injections, medications, casting, splinting, DME, preparing room for minor procedure, etc. or as directed by the clinician. Directing provider in clinic, always relaying to patient the progress of their visit and what can be expected next.
• Tracking and relaying to patients, as directed by the Provider, the results of labs and diagnostic studies.
• Sending medication orders to pharmacies as ordered by the Provider as well as managing incoming medication refill requests.
• Always ensuring the order and cleanliness of each examination room and x-ray facilities.
• Performing routine inventories and replenishing medical supplies and disposables maintained in each examination room in accordance with provider preference.
• Assists with medical chart prep prior to clinic by way of obtaining imaging reports, operative reports, referred out consult notes, etc. Maintains patient accounts by uploading into patient charts any outside medical records, consult reports, insurance reports, etc. Responsible for clinical calls that come in. Screen for provider. Document via T.E. Return patient calls, address all T.E.s.

Responsible for clinic D.M.E. ordering, dispensing and inventory. Responsible for clinic in-house pharmacy, dispensing and inventory logs. Maintenance of proper dispensing logs per State Regulations.

• Covering, as directed, the responsibilities of other staff who are away on meal breaks or scheduled/unscheduled absences.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

• Must have an excellent knowledge of the human anatomy and pathology to provide quality films for interpretation.
• This position must be comfortable and knowledgeable with medical terminology.
• This position will cross train to support the front desk staff and responsibilities
• This position must be a team player and able to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Answers and screens inquiry calls, faxes, and emails from prospective clients and patients.
• Communicates with other team members/departments constructively in order to reduce conflict and enhance the resolution of issues.
• Displays the ability to communicate with others effectively, listen closely and convey points clearly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· High School Diploma / GED

· Medical Assistant, Certified Degree

· Radiologic Technology Degree

· CPR/ BLS Certified

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare field of similar setting

· E-Clinical Works experience

· Bilingual (English/ Spanish)
