JOB POSTING – YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM LEADER

Position Overview

America SCORES Milwaukee, a leading non-profit organization that provides holistic youth-development programming within Milwaukee’s central-city, is seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the position of Program Leader.

In this position, the individual will have a dual role: 1) to lead high-quality programming across multiple sites, and 2) work collaboratively with the Director of Programs to oversee and manage successful implementation of America SCORES’ programs which use soccer, poetry, service-learning, and social-emotional learning activities.

Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 8th

Begin Date: asap

Type of Employment: Full-Time

Compensation: Salary Range $29,000-$37,500, Commensurate with experience

Hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week – daily program schedules vary between 8am-6pm

Essential Job Functions

Program Leader

  • Plan and conduct age-appropriate and intentional program sessions to meet SCORES’ goals and objectives of promoting physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development
  • Manage all supplies (i.e. writing bin with books, crayons, folders, etc., and coach bag with balls, jerseys, cones, etc.)
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth and teach and promote appropriate teamwork, leadership, commitment
  • Maintain accurate records such as participant attendance, incident reports, time sheets, etc.
  • Maintain reliable attendance to ensure participants have a consistent mentor

Program Coordinator - Assist the Director of Programs with the following:

Program Planning

  • Scheduling SCORES sites for the school year and summer
  • Promote recruitment, registration, and retention of program sites and participants
  • Maintain accurate inventory of program supplies, including overseeing seasonal distribution/collection
  • Plan and implement regular staff trainings

Program Implementation

  • Fill in as program leader in the absence of site-level coach/staff person
  • Oversee soccer game logistics including securing, lining fields, building goals, refereeing, planning and distribution of game day snacks
  • Planning and implementing program events (i.e. Poetry Slam, Fall Frenzy, Jamboree, Soccer Games, etc.)

Program Evaluation

  • Regularly visit program sites to review attendance is being taken
  • Assist with survey collection and data input

Qualifications/Experience

Required:

  • Motivated to implement and continually work to improve the quality of America SCORES’ youth development programming
  • Organized and able to work on several projects at once
  • Ability to adapt and improvise when necessary
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly and pick up new skills; proactively identifies and creatively solves problems
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent people skills in a diverse environment; a team player
  • Excellent written communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • One-year experience of teaching or youth-development program delivery
  • Must be flexible, dependable, have a good sense of humor
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel between multiple program sites throughout the city daily
  • Candidate must pass a background check

Preferred:

  • 6 college credits or more in Education, English, Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Social Work, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field
  • Previous experience conducting program evaluations
  • Teaching or Soccer Coaching experience
  • Experience working with youth and coaches from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Spanish

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position includes work within an office space, as well daily visits to program sites throughout the city. Each program location is unique, with varying levels of accessibility. To fulfill this position, candidates must be able to:

  • Travel to and from multiple program locations daily
  • Sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Engage in physical activity (sit on the floor, kneel, stoop, walk, run)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
