Academic Enrichment Facilitator Job at Boys And Girls Clubs Of Topeka
Focus on working with Club members academic growth to help bridge the learning gap and increase success in reading and math development. Leading one-on-one or small group lessons that cater to the academic needs and goals of the Club member.
KEY ROLES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help solve specific problems
- Facilitate classroom-centered activities
- Assisting Club members with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks
- Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, not-taking skills, and approaches to answering test questions
- Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments
- Conducting practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals
- Guide enrichment work
- Providing positive and constructive feedback

Leadership Competencies and Personal Traits
- Meet requirement of a Kansas Teaching License, standard Substitute License or Emergency Substitute Teacher License preferred
- 48 college credit hours or pass the state-mandated Paraprofessional test
- Knowledge of the Common Core Standards, intervention strategies, and intervention resources
- Knowledge and skills in proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, and basic math; methodologies, techniques and practices used to address the educational and emotional needs of regular program and Club members in special education
- Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
- Thorough knowledge of a specific academic subject (reading and math preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions, and deliver feedback
- Ability to motivate and encourage Club members to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies
- Creativity and flexibility to personalize learning approach to individual Club members needs
- Patience and compassion for Club members as they develop skills and improve their performance
- Previous demonstrated excellence in the academic subject that tutoring will be delivered in
