Position Title: Accountant Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller

FLSA: Exempt

Position Summary: Responsible for accurate accounting and maintenance of accounts receivable, daily retail revenue, and cash allocation. Perform, maintain, and document monthly reconciliations, including cash and other various balance sheet accounting as assigned. Prepare and oversee journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations, and assist in the monthly close process. Contribute to developing and reviewing departmental procedures and propose new ideas for efficiency. Ensure task compliance with GAAP along with Controller.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. (In lieu of a degree, a combination of higher education and directly related experience will be considered.)

· Two years of experience directly relating to accounting or finance.

· Advanced knowledge of financial statements and cost accounting

· Excellent computer skills, including Excel

· Advanced experience with Oracle or ERP Accounting Systems

· Ability to travel to other locations within Suffolk County

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

· Working knowledge of GAAP

· Strong numeracy and analytical skills

· Good problem-solving and time-management skills

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Highly organized and detail-oriented

Position Responsibilities:

· Recording and analysis of daily retail revenue receipts for multiple locations.

· Cash receivables and applications (checks, ACH, incoming wires, interest, commissions, etc.).

· Vouching AP invoices and writing checks weekly for Agency accounts.

· Monthly disbursement of Agency financial statements.

· Bi-monthly recording of PayPal revenue, sales tax, fees, and annual transfer of PayPal funds.

· Proactively research and respond to credit card chargebacks and disputes.

· Manage accounts receivable billing for the Hospital and LISVH locations.

· Monthly remittance of sales tax to NYS; preparation of quarterly sales tax return filings.

· Monitor FSA receivables email for inquiries.

· Create and distribute monthly customer statements.

· Monitor delinquent accounts and follow up for payment.

· Analyze, prepare, and post monthly adjustment journal entries.

· Record weekly NYS Lottery settlements to ensure the bank accounts are adequately funded for the weekly lottery payment sweep.

· Daily and monthly bank reconciliations and cash management.

· Assist with flash sales reporting weekly.

· Aid in the year-end audit.

· Oversee the new supplier set-up in Oracle.

· Occasional travel to other locations as needed (Long Island State Veterans Home, Southampton Hospital/Campus, Calverton Incubator).

· Other bookkeeping and clerical duties as assigned.
