Position: Accounting Clerk
Important Comment: LIFE, Inc., a provider of residential and periodic services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is seeking a highly motivated person in its New Bern, NC office. Responsibilities include processing payables, payroll, management of resident accounts, banking, maintaining Medicaid eligibility for residents, and general office duties.
Location: Position is located at 800 Cardinal Road New Bern, NC 28562
Hours: Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Job Description
- Perform a variety of bookkeeping/accounting duties including assembling, tabulating and reconciling data
- Perform general office duties such as answering telephone, emailing staff about meetings, maintaining office supplies, etc.
- Maintain petty cash, check book, and resident's personal fund accounts
- Prepare invoices and receipts for input for payment
- Add new residents to EHR program
- Maintain daily census of individuals in facilities for billing purposes
- Handle all financial processes and relative issues for assigned facilities
- Setup new employees and inactivate terminated employees in EHR and timeclock systems
- Process employee time records for payment
- Enroll new employees into benefit programs like group health insurance and retirement
- Operate a personal computer, calculator, copier and other office machines
- Assist employees, management, and residents as necessary
- Collect and review receipts from purchasing and credit cards usage
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Business or Accounting or two years experience in bookkeeping or related field
- Strong knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Team player but also a self-starter who is proactive and energetic
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Significant knowledge or experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with accounting software a plus.
- Experience using general office equipment (i.e., copier, fax machine, etc.)
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must have visual acuity, depth perception, and ability to adjust
- Ability to perform repetitive data entry tasks, manual dexterity
