Duties and Responsibilities:
Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) is accepting applications for a full time Accounting Manager. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Work with Director of Student Accounts to support accounting functions
  • Prepare external reports and surveys as required by regulatory agencies
  • Prepare internal financial reports, ad-hoc reports, reconciliations, and analysis of financial data as needed by various departments and at various levels within the university
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting practices, systems, and procedures and provides managers with analysis, projections, and trends
  • Supervises and directs the activities of employees in Student Accounts, specifically in cashiering and third-party billing
  • Monitors and oversees the Touchnet payment system set up to interface with the Banner Student Accounts Receivable module relative to revenue collection
  • Manages and assures accuracy of the student refund process
  • Develops and maintains student payment plans including construction of plans, marketing, and announcements
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting practices, systems, and procedures and provides managers with analysis, projections, and trends
  • Oversee all aspects of the petty cash fund including the monthly account reconciliation; replenishment of funds; and maintenance of all custodial agreements
  • Represents the department at meetings, functions, or other events including orientation
  • Ensures all departmental financial transactions are completed in a timely manner
  • Review current policies and make recommendations on policy changes and process improvements
  • Serves as a liaison to students and departments regarding billing and refunds
  • Assume the duties of the Director of Student Accounts in his or her absence
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives at the direction of the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:
  • CPA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience
