Overview:

Cedar Fair is seeking a Corporate Supervisor – Accounts Payable (AP) at our Knott's Berry Farm location. The Corporate Supervisor – AP will direct the processing of invoices and payments in a fast paced and high-volume environment. This position requires the motivation and proclivity to embrace software challenges and independent problem solving. This role supervises the weekly accounts payable process, directs the work of the Accounts Payable team and assists the Accounts Payable team members in meeting their job responsibilities.


The Corporate Supervisor – AP reports to the Corporate Manager – AP and has a small team of Accountant I and II associates reporting to this position. assists with supervising the payroll staff. This role will develop and implement standard operating procedures for all parks, thus facilitating a shared services environment across multiple parks. The Corporate Supervisor - AP performs quality review of accounts payable coding, proper sales/use tax application, and adherence to company policy and vendor terms. Good communication skills are a necessity as the supervisor will work with vendor and Cedar Fair associates on escalated issues. The supervisor is responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger as related to accounts payable and will assist in the gathering of information for audit requests and unclaimed funds processing.

Salary Details: $65,910- $82,390 per year. Based on experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze accounts payable batches for general ledger coding, sales/use tax application, and adherence to company policy.
  • Resolve escalated payment matters with vendors and associates.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts for adherence to budget.
  • Determine quarter end Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) adjustments and properly document for financial review.
  • Ensure accounts payable practices are in alignment with Brainware and OnBase software functionality.
  • Test and document subsequent accounts payable software releases and upgrades
  • Develop and deploy standard procedures and workflow across all locations.
  • Track and assign workload within automated accounts payable software for equitable distribution and to best meet deadlines.
  • Monitor exception queues in automated accounts payable software, problem solve, and redirect for processing.
  • Perform review of accounts payable invoices for proper documentation and adherence to company policy and vendor terms
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Review sales and use tax returns. Manage associated audits.
  • Possess and maintain current knowledge of sales/use tax state laws. Provide training to staff.
  • Train AP staff accountants and maintain current documentation of state sales/use tax laws.
  • Maintain the workflow approval matrices within the automated accounts payable system.
  • Participate in process improvement and automation.
  • Assist with the development and maintaining process documentation and guidelines.
  • Manage staff of Accountants (levels I & II, FT & PT), Seasonal associates and Interns.
  • Ensure that the practices and goals for the AP discipline are aligned with SAS in that they support the overall SAS objectives.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and encouragement within the department to promote professional, educational, and personal growth.
  • Document and record personnel-related actions completely and accurately in accordance with human resource guidelines.
  • Interview and assess applicant skills, knowledge and abilities required for the job.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of technical competence, personal accountability, and ethical behavior in all aspects of accounting work.
  • Hire, train, manage, coach, develop and complete performance evaluations of full-time direct reports.
  • Assist in developing all shared accounting services team members, provide ongoing training and maintain strong associate relationships.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and will demonstrate commitment to Cedar Fair core values and Cedar Fair cornerstones.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited four-year college or university and/or a minimum of four years combined accounting and/or industry related experience.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role with a strong background in accounts payable or related activities.
  • Understanding of basic accounting practices.
  • Experience with ERP and automated accounts payable software, JDE and Hyland preferred.
  • General Sales and Use Tax knowledge is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced Excel skills) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and able to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and time management skills.
  • Confidence to ask questions and get clarification, display a positive attitude, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test and background check, which may include, but is not limited to credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy.
