Boulder Post Acute is looking for a fun, capable, and creative Activities Director to join our team!

Purpose: To plan, organize and direct the operation of the Activity Program as it meets the needs of resident care plans in accordance with current federal, state and local standards that govern the facility, and as directed by the Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities to residents with sufficient supervision for each activity.
  • Develop program for residents including, if applicable, programs designed for residents confined to their rooms.
  • Develop and produce a monthly calendar of recreational, social, cultural and religious activities.
  • Develop and produce a periodic community newsletter of special events and special interest stories for distribution to the residents and their families.
  • Plan, set up, and supervise as appropriate scheduled recreational, social, cultural and religious events.
  • Develop, implement and monitor a program of transportation that includes private and group transportation.
  • Meet or exceed residents' expectations while maintaining expenditures within budgetary limits.
  • Perform any other reasonable task assigned by your supervisor.
  • Attend in service training as required.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Perform assessments of patients in the skilled nursing setting.
  • Participate in completion of MDS assessments, per request of MDS coordinator.
  • Greet new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds.
  • Assist in planning parties and activities as well as decorating the community according to the season and/or holiday throughout the years as well as planning monthly birthday parties to honor residents.
  • Support and actively participate in the community’s census building initiatives.
  • Maintain records of all activities, resident participation levels and acceptance of each activity by residents as required by state law.
  • Enlisting the services of volunteers to aid the activities program.
  • May drive company vehicle from community to social and other various destinations (only if required by community).

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree in therapeutic recreation or related field. TRT
  • At least 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience is acceptable.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Possesses and maintains current CPR certification

Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Continuous bending, squatting, twisting and reaching.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.
  • Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires infrequent lifting of weight up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of carts and transporting residents.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Environmental conditions: Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Experience:

  • Older Adults: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Activities Director: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Recreational Therapy Degree/Cert (Preferred)
  • Activity Director Certified (Required)
