Job Description:
The Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling and the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics programs at the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) seek applications for an Adjunct Professor to teach one or multiple courses in Spring 2023. These courses are designed to provide students with exposure and knowledge to fundamental clinical genetics specialties, including general genetics, biochemical genetics, cancer genetics and pharmacogenomics.

An appreciation for an integrated, team-based approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches to academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a team environment.

Education and Experience:
Must hold a master's degree in genetic counseling and be certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or hold a doctoral degree with clinical genetics expertise. Experience in teaching is highly desired. An ability to work effectively in a team environment and a strong commitment to a culture of diversity, respect, and inclusion.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

The candidate chosen for the position will be responsible for planning and teaching a curriculum that supports students' integration of knowledge, skills, and experience to prepare them for future jobs in genomics and bioinformatics. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

Teaching and coordinating the course

Designing active learning activities to build technical skills

Developing formative and summative assessments

Genetics Courses :
Candidates may submit an application to teach one or more of the following courses:

Medical Genetics: 3 credit hours, meets 15 times per semester
Clinical Cancer Genomics: 3 credit hours, meets 15 times per semester
Biochemical Genetics: 1.5 credit hours, meets 15 times per semester
Pharmacogenomics: 1.5 credit hours, meets 15 times per semester

Special Requirements:

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.
