Supervises the daily operations of the Adventure Course and all its related functions. The Adventure Course Supervisor is charged with effectively communicating with the guests and staff to assure the highest level of operator professionalism as well as the smooth/efficient and safe operations of the Aerial Adventure Course at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.
Summary
The Adventure Course Supervisor helps create memorable experiences for guests through excellent guest service, daily equipment inspections, operation and safety briefings, and a variety of other related tasks in the Adventure Course.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Works to ensure the proper operation of the Adventure Course and all its functions.
- Notifies manager of supplies needed for the efficient function of the Adventure Course and staff; notifies manager of non-mechanical parts needed for the Adventure Course and all its components.
- Advises the manager of any conditions or occurrences that may adversely affect the safety of the operation.
- Provides weekly and seasonal reports to the manager, with a focus on efficiency and performance indicators.
- Conducts daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual safety inspections on and maintains the safe operating conditions of the Adventure Course and its mechanical components.
- Maintains the condition of the Adventure Course’s related equipment and supplies.
- Reviews applications, conducts interviews, and hiring of seasonal staff.
- Schedules seasonal staff according to budget; ensuring a timely opening of the Adventure Course.
- Delegates daily work assignments appropriately.
- Assists in mountain rescue and evacuation efforts.
- Stays organized and detail-oriented, utilizing checklists and other systems to ensure no task goes undone.
- Makes sound, ad hoc decisions in the event of unforeseen changes to standard protocol and procedures; anticipates events and plans; prepares for the unexpected.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Performs tasks of subordinates, as needed.
- Advocates on behalf of seasonal staff to management.
- Assists in mountain emergency situations.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Promotes safety by following safe practices and reporting any unsafe conditions or situations, while on the premises.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to make sound decisions under stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a professional attitude toward guests and staff.
- 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- ACCT certification preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate meeting ropes course training certification requirements, including, but not limited to: Ability to put on and remove harness, and set up climbing gear on the course via the use of ladders and other equipment. Ability to carry gear (e.g. carabiners, pulleys, belay devices, ropes, rescue bags, etc.) that may range from 5-25 pounds. Ability to use supportive and guiding language to help guests with anxiety through course elements. Ability to perform rescues on the course as needed.
- Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and accurately, with or without supervision and without injury to incumbent or others.
- Valid, current unrestricted Driver’s License required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must pass a background chec.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND SCHEDULE
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is most often exposed to work in high places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.SCHEDULEThe schedule will be full-time seasonal, adjusted for operations and maintenance.
