(Job Description)


One of very reputable aerospace manufacturing company located in Everett, WA is currently looking to identify a Buyer. With moderate direction from the Materials Manager and Purchasing Leads, this position shall be responsible for the procurement of designated materials, supplies and equipment for operations to meet purchasing demands. The Buyer position will coordinate with inventory management and use materials management and inventory control principles and techniques to maintain accurate inventory levels and to meet the needs of the business. The Buyer will leverage world-class negotiation and sourcing strategies, tools and processes, and mitigate risk.

(Responsibilities)


  • Responsible for mastery of Buyer Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials
  • Evaluate supplier information and analyze quotes to successfully determine best total value
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers accurately and in a timely manner
  • Resolve blocked invoices as a result of pricing errors
  • Deliver significant contributions to the achievement of Procurement Services and Supply Chain goals and initiatives as identified
  • Demonstrate and promote ethical behavior in dealing with external and internal business situations
  • Assist in providing buyer coverage as needed
  • Coordinate with materials team, management and production areas as required
  • Ensure shortage risks are effectively communicated to production and management
  • Follow requirements for PPV and provide justification as necessary
  • Formulate short and long term strategies to ensure quality and continuity of part supply
  • Negotiate long term contracts – pricing agreements with suppliers
  • Develop and maintain suppliers who share in company's ideals of total quality, as well as continuous improvement on part and service quality, delivery performance and total cost
  • Conduct Performance Readiness Assessments with Suppliers
  • Act as focal point for root cause / corrective actions assigned to suppliers
  • Present a competent and composed demeanor, representing the company with professionalism to all stakeholders (including but not limited to applicants, employees, contractors, vendors, and customers) to successfully advance the interests of the company
  • Model and enforce safe work practices; ensures a consistent focus on safety
  • Model and lead a positive and respectful workplace environment
  • Ongoing self-development and personal growth as an employee
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

(Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • 2 to 5 years of industry related experience. Related experience could include several supply chain areas: procurement, contract negotiations, logistics, materials management, inventory and/or warehousing
  • Experience in lean practices a plus
  • Strong focus and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong focus on customer service
  • Ability to quickly master new business knowledge and technical skills
  • Understanding of personal computers and the various databases, spreadsheets, and reporting capabilities that are available to perform business functions
  • Demonstrated experience delivering successful contract negotiations
  • Experience with ERP related software
  • Demonstrated experience with effective Productivity / Continuous Improvement projects
  • Demonstrated experience with Transfer of Work to a new source
  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing of contract manufactured parts / assemblies

(Position Details)


Title – Buyer

Pay – $30/hr. - $35/hr. (depending on relevant qualifications)

Schedule – Rotating Shift with every other Friday off (i.e.

Week 1 – 5x8s, Week 2 – 4x9s, Week 3 – 5x8s, Week 4 – 4x9s…etc.) – There will be occasional 2-3 hours of OT every other week which is 1.5x pay!

Compensation is tied to the Colorado and Washington markets for jobs performed in Colorado and Washington. Other locations may be subject to variances based on location-related factors.
