Non-emergency Operators (NEOs) are responsible for responding to non-emergency situations. When responding to non-emergency calls the NEO must be able to use proper lifting and moving procedures and assist the EMT Basic
The NEO must observe all traffic ordinances and regulations as well as company policy and procedures while operating the ambulance in non-emergency situations.
The NEO must observe and follow all company policy and procedures as well as protocols.
The NEO must be able to; but not limited to the following, while performing their job duties:
· function in uncommon situations
· has an understanding of body substance isolation
· understand basic medical-legal principles
· understand the EMS and company code of conduct
· function within the scope of practice as defined by the state, regional and local regulatory agencies as well as the company protocols
· demonstrates and ensures knowledge, understanding and compliance of PEASI policies and procedures
· ensures that the vehicle and equipment is ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call
· performs daily chores to ensure cleanliness of the station and crew quarters, including appropriate housekeeping duties to ensure their living quarters are clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times
· responds to non-emergencies using appropriate care and caution in accordance with Ohio State Law, EMS regulations, PEASI company policies, and the principles of safe emergency vehicle operations.
· acts at all times in the best interest of the best interest of the patient, and in such a manner to reflect credibly on PEASI and the professional reputation of the EMS profession
· acts at all times with his/her personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of his/her partner, the patient, other EMS personnel, bystanders, and any other public safety personnel present
· Transports patients to their destinations, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate medical professional and a report has been given
· completes all appropriate documentation and record keeping for every transport
· obtains complete billing information for all clients/patients transported
· reports to assign shift in proper uniform as according to the PEASI policy and procedure
· reports to assign shift on time and remains on-duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved
· at all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow
· places patient care excellence and safety above all else
