If so, you may be interested to know the Department of Labor & Industry is currently recruiting for two full-time Registered Apprenticeship Specialist positions. One each for the Kalispell and Missoula areas.
As a Registered Apprenticeship Specialist, some of the duties you’ll perform are:
- Work with businesses, job seekers/apprentices, workforce system partners, high schools, higher education and numerous other entities to successfully manage and grow the program.
- Research best practices in other states and determine how strategies can be modified and implemented in Montana.
- Study economic conditions in communities; building relationships with workforce system partners, businesses, education entities, veterans and other organizations, and peers; and develop and recommend program implementation strategies.
- Interpret and monitor state and federal regulations, standards, and policies to ensure compliance.
- Develop policy recommendations, research and interpret state and federal laws, regulations, and policies and assist with development of the workforce system.
- Communicate workforce development initiatives, program information and data

- Principles of federal employment and training legislation.
- Workforce development, economic development, adult learning, policy development, and administrative procedures of state government.
- Program development.

- Provide public information about agency and program policies and procedures.
- Critical thinking, organization, strategic planning, management practices, record keeping.
- Personal computer and software.
Ability to:
- Effectively communicate with workforce development stakeholders and program partners to ensure responsibilities and expectations are met.
- Use conflict management resolution techniques and feedback techniques to build trust.
- Analyze, interpret and apply complex policies, data and results; to develop new workforce system partnerships.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, competing groups, the public, government officials and agency employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business administration or human services; and,
- One year of progressively responsible work in program administration.
Or
- Three years of directly related experience.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the principles of federal employment and training legislation, workforce development, economic development, adult learning, policy development, and administrative procedures of state government. Skills in research and analysis, critical thinking, organization, strategic planning, management practices, record keeping, communication, facilitation, negotiation, consensus building, and computer skills.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
