Assistant Controller Job at Southern Impression Homes
Reports to: SR VP of Finance
Southern Impression Homes, a rapidly growing Florida based construction company, recently partnered with Brightland Homes and Sumitomo Forestry, will now expand our BTR (Build to Rent) model to several markets across the country. This national expansion of Southern Impression Homes necessitates added financial leadership, specifically, an Assistant Controller who is well versed in the construction industry.
Our ideal candidate has a long-standing adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) as a Certified Public Accountant or Senior Level Accountant in construction.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, motivate, train, and develop accounting staff
- Aid with all aspects of monthly financial reporting including preparation of balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow and equity as well as monthly departmental expense details and comparisons to budget
- Perform Job Cost analysis including variance reporting, field overhead allocations, inventory cost analysis, accrual reviews
- Manage monthly recurring journal entries such as corporate overhead allocations, insurance allocations, depreciation entries and accruals
- Cost projections and comparisons to actual
- Report monthly financial results to management
- Ensure compliance with internal controls
- Support annual financial statement audit during both interim and final periods by coordinating preparation of PBC (prepared by client) supporting documents and audit schedules
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel software; experience with accounting and financial analysis software
- A minimum of 3 years working with JDE
- Strongly Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed CPA

Additional Considerations:
- In-office role based in Jacksonville, FL
- Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm

Work Environment: Indoor/Inside environment with temperature controls
Physical Demands: Sedentary 50-75%, sitting/stationary at desk/cubicle with ability to move/traverse office/cubicle space and to/from office equipment and/or other office areas. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or using negligible amount of force infrequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects like parcels/paperwork. Repetitive motions/ Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker must have close visual acuity to perform activities like preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards, monitors, and phone.
