The Hayden is gearing up to open a second location in the Alon shopping center and is looking for an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help open the new spot and help run the day to day operation of what we think is the most kick-ass and fun diner. This is a fast-paced environment, and the ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to understand the big picture as well as all the tiny details that make the difference. If you have ever thought about opening your own restaurant, this can give you the skills and knowledge to confidently pursue that - or the confidence to run as far in the opposite direction as you can!
The successful candidate should have approximately two + years of restaurant management/leadership experience and not be afraid to lead his or her team and get down in it with the staff. Lead by example as they saying goes. Be the boss you always wanted. This is not a sit at your desk all day job.
To be successful in this position you must be knowledgable about food and have a real interest in supporting local restaurants (if you eat at Applebee's and Olive Garden on the regular, this might not be the place for you - no offense). As is most things in life, you get out of it what you put in it - our menu is a little different if you are not familiar with old school delicatessen food, but not a hard thing to learn about if you truly care. This is not a position that should need to be micromanaged - a self starter and one with initiate to make each day better than the previous one is whom we are looking for!

Responsibilities:
- Carry out administrative functions to the highest standards - we don't do things half-assed.
- Oversee the bar staff, ensuring proper staffing levels and attention to details in the specs and organization. We are not a craft cocktail bar per se, but not a speed bar. The details matter and we make most everything in house.
- Oversee with the GM FOH labor schedules
- Oversee the front-of-house/bar team and ensure training systems are in place to deliver top of class hospitality
- Help manage vendors and supplier relationships
- Contribute ideas and think out of the box. Act as if this is YOUR restaurant - sky is the limit to what is possible.
- Work with both the bar and kitchen team to grow revenue and control costs.
Qualifications:
- Experience with management and track record of success
- Proficient using MS Word & Excel to create very basic spreadsheets as needed
- Has to truly understand the economics of how the restaurant business works and help grow revenue and control costs
- Must be comfortable being a leader and ultimately being the one responsible for how the day to day operation is running (both the good and the bad).
- Open to direction and criticism. We are all gonna screw up - just don't make excuses. We learn from our mistakes and move on.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work both early mornings to evenings
