Job Summary and Qualifications

At the organizational level, the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Operations contributes to the delivery of strategic and operational objectives by reducing facility costs and improving productivity, revenue generating capacity and image of the entire organization and provides a safe and efficient working environment, essential to the performance of the hospital.


Essential Accountabilities:

  • Plans, develops, oversees and ensures that we achieve the long-term objectives for all departments and functions relating to facilities.
  • Engages in continuous quality and process improvement initiatives across all facets of facilities management.
  • Integrates seamlessly with other business partners including Accounting, Purchasing, Contracts Management, Real Estate, Health System, and Environmental Health and Safety
  • Formulates and establishes goals, direction, and vision in conjunction with the hospital mission, to guide the Facilities Department.
  • Partners with hospital leadership to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Directs facilities-based capital planning, facilities design, specifications, and equipment maintenance, throughout the institution.
  • Working in concert with other units such as Environmental Health and Safety, develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained and ensures regulatory compliance with external agency standards (the Joint Commission, Department of State Health Services).
  • Develops and manages related multi-year operating and capital budgets.
  • Manages projects from design to execution to superior customer satisfaction and manages the cost/quality trade-off (if any) to internal customer satisfaction.
  • Manages and monitors project development to ensure achieving project goals, hospital standards and code compliance.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations; establishes standards of customer service, performance and productivity; establishes preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and facility construction and casualty prevention programs; establishes department quality assurance and safety.
  • Develops, tracks, and publishes performance metrics for all areas of facilities management to ensure a high degree of accountability.
  • Creates a highly transparent environment that is responsive to customers' concerns, issues, and input.
  • Coordinates with internal/external businesses and clinical partners such as medical staff to support the multidisciplinary mission of the hospital and provides an effective communication channel for coordination, long range planning, and problem resolution.
  • Determines and establishes work priorities and staffing needs, including staff development and training.
  • Represents Mission Health System with external parties in collaborative and negotiated relationships pertaining to planning and facilities management.
  • Interfaces and coordinates activities with Mission Health System of Facilities Planning and Construction.


What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree

Required Experience: At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management. Experience in engineering, management of business and operations services in both soft and hard facilities services, as well facilities development and construction.
