Job Overview:
Associate Scientist, Beverage R&D – Frisco, TX

The Associate Scientist will support the Productivity & Continuous Improvement team working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment to develop ingredient specifications that are accurate, as well as collect critical FSMA documents to make sure all our ingredients meet the required FDA standards.

Responsibilities
1. Understand basics of raw materials, and their application in beverages
2. Support projects that impact ingredients, such as new supplier requirement updates, cost savings initiatives, supply issues or production challenges.
3. Support and work effectively with R&D (Product Development, Regulatory) and with broader external R&D partners (Supply Chain, Quality, and Procurement) to update ingredient information in an electronic database system and meet project timelines
4. Follow SOP and enter required ingredient data in the database accurately
5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory work if ingredient is analyzed internally
6. Prepare ingredient samples and test for basic specs if needed, such as pH, Acidity, Density, Brix etc.
7. Work together effectively with other functions of R&D such as Sensory, Nutrition, Regulatory, Flavor Technology, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology
8. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers as needed to accomplish set objectives and obtain required documents in timely manner
9. Develop SOPs and training for job function

1. Must be able to summarize bench top evaluations of ingredients tested
2. Must have a high attention to detail with ingredient specifications and related technical information
3. Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing business needs, priorities, and other activities as needed
4. Self-motivated and able to manage the workload as prioritized

Requirements:
  • Minimum of B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or allied field
  • 3 months - 2 years of experience in a related function within food/beverage (R&D, Quality) or CPG internship
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
