ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF.Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Athletics Ground Superintendent, the primary duty of this position is the general maintenance of the USF Athletics District. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, maintenance of the grounds and landscaping of assigned areas by keeping areas in a clean and orderly condition, free of trash and debris, mowing and edging lawns, trimming and pruning trees and bushes, and detailing landscape elements and flowerbeds. This position may require knowledge of proper handling of fertilizers and pesticides. This position receives regular supervision and specific direction with regards to assignments and the timeliness in which these duties are to be performed. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform landscaping duties at all Athletic District facilities. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, mowing, applying chemicals and fertilizers, pulling weeds, trimming trees, shrubs and palms, removal and installation of landscaping plants, blowing of entrances at all Athletics District facilities. Responsible for the general maintenance of the track & field, soccer, football, tennis, baseball and softball fields.

Perform field maintenance; including, but not limited to, mound and home plate repair, painting, track maintenance, batting practice setup/ tear-down, tarp pulling, event setup/break-down.

Perform turf grass management; including, but not limited to, mowing edging, sodding, aerating, herbicide spraying, topdressing, irrigation repairs/installations, painting game
lines, as well as assisting with fertilizer and pest control applications.

Perform general facility maintenance including; but not limited to debris and trash pick-up from campus grounds areas, performs minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and machinery, digs trenches or holes for sprinklers, lighting, etc.

Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires completion of the 9th grade. No specific experience required. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.
