Volunteer Guardianship One on One Flemington, NJ

This position is responsible for the recruitment, screening, and training of volunteers to become guardians for incapacitated adults/people (IP’s); helping to field inquiries and screening of IP’s; matching accepted volunteers and IP’s together in a guardianship relationship and monitoring and supporting the guardianship. Caseload will range from 15 to approximately 30 guardianships.

The Case Manager is part of a small and dedicated team and thus may also have responsibilities related to community education, marketing and outreach, fundraising, and reporting. The position is located in Flemington with periodic local travel required within the central NJ region.

Responsibilities

· Recruit prospective volunteers though a variety of outreach methods to become legal guardians of incapacitated adults.

· Screen prospective volunteers through interviews, background check, and reference checks.

· Train and educate volunteers on the fiduciary responsibilities of being a legal guardian.

· Assist in screening referrals for services; speak with referral source, seek supplemental information as needed and, when possible, meet the potential client.

· Make recommendation to IP screening committee.

· Select volunteer to serve as guardians to IP’s in a legal guardianship relationship

· Support and monitor guardianship, ensuring compliance with program obligations, legal requirements, and program and court required reporting.

· Connect guardians to agency and community resources that will assist them in their responsibilities/benefit their IP.

· Document all contacts and activities.

· Plan and implement volunteer recognition and retention activities.

· Provide support as needed and upon request for general community education activities and ward recruitment activities.

· Provide support as needed and upon request to help maintain/update the agency website, social media, and other community/outward facing communication methods.

· Interface with the court staff and attend all court hearings with the volunteer.

· Facilitate the smooth transition of responsibilities from a resigning guardian to the successor guardian.

· Complete board and funding reports as needed.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and/or Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or other human service field strongly preferred. Experience may be substituted year-for-year for education.

· At least one year of experience working with volunteers and experience in serving vulnerable populations that include older people with dementia and/or people with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

· Understanding of legal guardianship and familiarity with local long-term housing and other resources for incapacitated individuals very helpful.

· Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.

· Strong verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

· Understanding of the right to client dignity, maximizing autonomy, and maintaining confidentiality.

· Ability to travel locally within New Jersey; must have valid NJ driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27,300.00 - $29,250.00 per year
