Audiology Assistant, WMC Audiology

United Health Services is seeking an Audiology Assistant to join our Audiology team in Johnson City, NY. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE position.

Salary range: $16.07 - $21.74, depending on experience

Audiology Assistant Overview

The assistant ensures that Audiology services rendered (the evaluation and treatment of patients) are completed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. Those served include inpatients and outpatients, UHS staff and employees, as well as affiliated UHSH community groups as needed. Priority is given to services which directly affect patients and supervised staff.

Audiology Assistant Key Responsibilities and Expectations

Essential Functions:
Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.Instructs patients regarding diagnostic procedures.

• Utilization of EMR to track/document patient interactions (questions/concerns)

Performs newborn hearing screens

• Orders supplies/sends hearing aids out for repair
• Records and reports the results of all procedures
• Maintains accurate and appropriate records, New York State Newborn screening result reporting
• Hearing Aid insurance verification/authorization
• Scheduling patients and performs all pre-authorizations required
• Abides by the department Service Delivery Standards
• Procedures are performed within departmental standards
• Performs Otoacoustic emissions within department standards
• Cleans and maintains equipment on a daily basis
• Files necessary reports in EPIC and pulls EPIC results when needed. Reviews EPIC results from previous tests
• Facilitates the delivery of timely results to outside providers/offices.
• Ensures billing is correct and submitted timely

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience in Audiology OR an ENT related field

Preferred:

• Associates Degree
• Basic knowledge of current professional Audiology trends and development. Secretarial experience to include Audiology terminology.

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

• NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing License within 1 year of hire
