Come join one of the fastest growing independently owned distributors in Northern California. We are looking for a full-time Back-End Developer to join and support our team. This role can be based out of our branch located in Hayward, Dublin, San Jose or Modesto, CA.

The Back-End Developer will work with team members to troubleshoot and improve current back-end applications and processes. The Back-end Developer will use their understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze current codes and industry developments, formulate more efficient processes, solve problems, and create a more seamless experience for end-users.

In this position, you will participate in the entire application lifecycle, working hand-in-hand with front-end developers by providing the outward facing web application elements server-side logic. Ultimately, you should be able to lead the development and maintenance of functional and stable web applications with clean codes that meet our company’s needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Writing the web services and APIs used by front-end developers and mobile application developers.
• Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
• Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
• Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
• Ability to manage a hosting environment, including database administration as well as scaling applications to handle load changes
• Understanding of front-end web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (to communicate with team members on the front-end)
• Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
• User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
• Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
• Knowledge of current accessibility and security compliance codes and standards
• Knowledge of mobile web development or cloud app development
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implementation of security and data protection
• Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of relevant work experience.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and associated technologies.
• Experience working with TypeScript and relevant data validation techniques.
• Experience working with Apollo/GraphQL and knowledge of data contracts between clients and services.
• Experience working in and managing no-sql databases.
• Experience in cleaning and scaling legacy data structures.
• Ability to write clear and organized documentation.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
