The Coffee Bar is a small, independent coffee shop with two locations in Washington DC. Our mission is simple: to serve great coffee and have fun doing it! We’re extremely passionate about what we do and strive to make everyone’s day that walks through our doors. We prepare quality coffee drinks, tell jokes, take out the trash, make more jokes, serve delicious pastries, mop floors, and seek to share our coffee knowledge with others. We are a diverse group of coffee professionals and experts, opera singers, writers, teachers, slow jam listeners, and movie enthusiasts united by our common interest in coffee and the goal of creating a quality product served in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We are looking for people to join this hard working team.

About the position:

The TCB Barista is passionate about coffee and takes care to make each guest’s experience incredible. If you don’t have any coffee experience, that’s no problem. While it’s preferred and will take priority, that’s not all that we are looking for. We want people who are warm, friendly, have a strong work ethic and a sense of pride when it comes to doing their job. Availability should include weekends. No short term applicants, we’re looking for a minimum 6-month commitment. You will earn a base wage plus tips, which we will guarantee to be a minimum of $20/hr.

Your duties:

Provide amazing customer service to each and every guest.

Be punctual, neat and tidy in appearance for every shift.

Work alongside a small team of other baristas with mutual respect for one another.

Stay informed and educated on all of our current offerings.

Commit to upholding our standards that have been set forth by ownership.

Learn how to prepare espresso, pour over, cold brew, and drip coffee to shop standards.

You must have:

Exemplary people skills.

A love of coffee!

A strong work ethic and take pride in your assigned tasks.

An ability to work along supervisors and take direction and criticism as needed.

Empathy and a sense of responsibility.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation depends on your experience.
