Job Overview:
The scope of this Division of Batch Operations Production Control (DBOPC), User Interface Team (UIT) supports in the development and implementation of data exchanges for client’s batch applications that function in multi-platform environments - Mainframe, UNIX/LINUX, and Windows using Managed File Transfer (formerly Cyberfusion), SFTP or Connect Direct.
UIT's Services also include:
- Review and analysis of users' Batch data exchange requirements
- Investigate and resolve data exchange and batch production problems
- Implement Data Exchanges in accordance with established client policies and Inter Exchange Agreements
- Recommend strategies to architect complex data exchanges
- Assure timely delivery of critical data between customer and its business partners
Objectives:
- Allocate tasks and load balance of available resources, as required.
- Determine what changes are necessary to ensure that Batch workloads process properly in conjunction with online processes, without causing errors and without negatively affecting online availability.
- Create and manage ongoing reports and documents to support data exchange activities.
- Close completed change request artifacts associated with data exchange releases that are successfully migrated to customer’s production environment.
- Create and manage reports and documents to support data exchange activities.
- Provide daily testing support for data exchange initiatives and activities.
- Monitor, review, certify, and document ‘OLBG’ (high-level qualifier) dataset, modifications, and justifications.
- Demonstrate that all data exchange activities adhere to change control policies and procedures.
- Continuously document and itemize all activities and steps necessary to carryout, execute and complete Batch initiated data exchange activities and deliverables.
- Review change configuration reports to assess all, enterprise-wide changes in determining the impact or potential impact on new and existing Batch initiated data exchanges.
- Coordinate with internal and external personnel to troubleshoot and resolve data transmission issues, and build and update data exchange processes based on requirements and oversight.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to retransmit files using the most appropriate data transmission mechanism.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to activate and deactivate automated data transmissions using the most appropriate tools/mechanism.
- Provide project coordination, application testing, user support, system administration, and security support.
- Provide security, monitoring, auditing, and reporting support for data exchange activities and transactions.
- Provide technical and administrative support for data exchange initiatives, when required.
- Provide documentation review for data exchange activities.
- Provide system documentation for the Division of Batch Operations Production Control (DBOPC) data exchange support operation.
- Monitor, track, and document file retransmissions daily.
- Perform work-order monitoring and other work-order oversight activities.
- Verify that all data exchange transactions adhere to change control policies and procedures
- Provide technical guidance and performance monitoring of the network and applications.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system environments.
- Provide overall task and project support, including administrative functions.
- Attend the briefings to report on the status of data transmission problems reported by batch operations personnel.
- Analyze, determine, and administer the appropriate level of auditing support for all aspects of data exchange activities.
- Verify the validity and applicability of change record numbers (identifiers), release-tracking numbers (identifiers), problem tracking numbers (identifiers) and supporting documentation as it relates to all aspects of data exchange activities.
- Communicate with all stakeholders to ensure that release tracking numbers (identifiers), change control numbers (identifiers), problem tracking numbers (identifiers) and supporting materials are properly associated with all aspects of data exchange activities.
- Prepare written deliverables or work products using the Microsoft Office Product suitable for the task, save written deliverable/work products to the team shared drive, and/or upload items to SharePoint or similar client’s method of publication.
- Use software compatible with client’s project planning software application when preparing project plans.
- Participate in the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including architecture, design, pilot, development, test, implementation, operation, and enhancements, when required.
- Support the development of tools and processes.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Provides expert leadership and guidance with current principles and practices of data exchange requirements.
- Have at least 3 years’ experience with the following:
- Development and implementation of data exchanges for client’s batch applications that function in multi-platform environments - Mainframe, LINUX, and Windows using Managed File Transfer
- Performing batch-initiated data exchange activities to include testing support for batch-initiated data exchanges between multiple business partners, applications software upgrades and conversions
- Batch scripting, using Connect-direct scripting, etc.
- Providing technical support
- Using a data transmission protocol
- Using Microsoft Windows and files/folder structure and processes (CMD, PowerShell)
- Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Using Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF)
- Using UNIX/LINUX
- Using IBM’s z/OS operating system
- Using Job Control Language (JCL)
- Documentation and technical writing
- Software products used to gather management information (MI) data reporting
- Reporting information to Management
