Job Title: Individual & Family Support Behaviorist
Reports To: IFS Program Director
Hours: 37.5 (must be flexible) some afternoons/evening hours required
Type: Exempt
Purpose of Position:
This is a full-time 37.5 hour per week position, but must be flexible. The Behaviorist reports directly to the IFS Program Director. Cover Letter & Resume may be asked at a later time.
The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Author Positive Behavior Support Plans and/or Functional Behavior Assessments.
- Work with families to meet their unique needs, as well as that of the family member, to help enable families to provide appropriate care to their children. This includes, teaching families how to implement and follow up to ensure correct implementation of Behavior Support Plan.
- Regularly assess data and adjust plans as needed.
- Work with the individual’s school or other team members to develop coordinated programming between school/day program and home.
- Supervise direct support staff which includes teaching the implementation of the Behavior Support Plan as well as insuring it is being implemented correctly; reviewing staff entries in Therap to ensure they are working/making progress and reporting accurately and on-time; following up with staff regarding trainings and other program policies as necessary; completion of staff evaluations as assigned; and provide support and discipline as necessary.
- Make sure all state paperwork is current for each individual on caseload. This includes:
- Annual Individual Plan updates. Use the flow Chart to follow steps to update Level of Need and Individual Plan.
- Writing updates/reports as required by Department of Developmental Services/Department of Children & Families when due and following flow chart on this process.
- Work with case managers and attend any necessary meetings.
- Work with the Director of Individual and Family Support on administrative management, including interviewing job applicants and evaluating referred cases.
- Adhere to budget flow to ensure correct utilization of direct support hours as well as behavioral hours.
- Complete all required documentation: Behavioral ISP Data in Therap after visits, utilizing Electronic Visit Verification System (EVV) successfully when required, etc.
Education, Qualifications and/or Special Training:
- Master’s Degree from accredited institution
- Must qualifications to become DDS Provider
Requirements:
- Must be a professional and positive representation of Benhaven at all times
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and Writing Positive Behavior Support Plans
- Must be flexible with scheduling. This is not a 9-5 job. Hours are flexible but schedule will include some late afternoons and very occasional weekend hours.
- Ability to work with families
- Ability to train and supervise
- Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and registration
- Must be able to complete all background checks to be considered
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have knowledge of current trends in autism
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of DDS, DCF and other funding sources
