Billing Clerk/Office Assistant – Offices in Shelton and Bethel

Essential Responsibilities:

Billing Clerk:

  • Review Work in Process (WIP) Billing to determine appropriate billing cycles for clients.
  • Review and investigate historical client billing to determine/propose appropriate client billing within firm guidelines.
  • Review and edit staff billing entries to ensure accurate and professional billing.
  • Work closely with Partners and Billing Manager to edit, finalize, and distribute client billing.
  • Effectively communicate with clients on billing matters ensuring the highest quality of customer service.
  • Set-up, maintain, and update client databases and portals.
  • Assist with A/R and collections.
  • Assist with all other day-to-day client billing functions as directed.

Office Assistant:

  • Assist with reception area duties, including greeting clients/visitors and managing high call volume.
  • Download, scan, copy, and organize client information and documents.
  • Compile and process client mailings and email communications.
  • Serve as back-up support for Partners, CPA/Accounting Staff, Practice Managers, and other Administrative Staff as needed.
  • Willingness to perform any administrative task as directed.

Administrative duties will increase during tax season. The successful candidate will have an “all-hands-on-deck” mentality during the busy season with a willingness to learn and successfully perform additional administrative tasks to ensure a successful tax season.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of billing experience required. CPA firm or related client-focused billing experience a plus.
  • 3-5 years of administrative duties a plus.
  • Strong written, editorial, and grammatical skills required.
  • Professional and effective oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of IT software and cloud-based software required. Experience with CCH programs a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in navigating billing challenges and developing strong client relationships.
  • Integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative spirit.
