The University of Rochester’s Department of Public Safety is seeking a Bookkeeper to support its accounting and payroll functions. The Department of Public Safety includes 200 support staff and peace officers. In addition to providing emergency services and support, the team provides training to University staff and engages in ongoing safety measures across all University campuses.
You’re a great candidate for this role if you enjoy detailed work, have superior organizational skills and are comfortable working in Excel.
The Bookkeeper’s responsibilities include:
· Serving as the main point of contact for DPS payroll, acting as the department Timekeeper and troubleshooting any payroll issues for staff in a timely manner.
· Initiating journal entries to ensure general accounting policies are followed and processing invoices for payment.
· Resolving inquiries regarding the payment of invoices, providing copies of documentation and working with vendors to reconcile unpaid invoices and unapplied credits.
· Timely and professional responses to correspondence, including confirmation that invoices/credits have been processed and journal entries have posted.
Qualifications:
· An Associate’s degree in a related field such as Business or Accounting, or an equivalent amount of applicable experience
