We are looking for someone with some marketing/design/social media experience to help promote our theater! You'll be in charge of updating our website, posting on our social media and creating our playbills and posters, in addition to coordinating our box office staff schedule so that shifts are covered. Box Office / Publicity Manager Job Description
Reports to: The Managing Director or the Board President in absence of a Managing Director
Hours: Part-time; some nights and weekends (estimated 30 hrs/per week)
Job Summary: The Box Office / Publicity Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of the day-to-day operation of the box office and to manage publicity.
Work Location: at the theater
Duties and Responsibilities:
General responsibilities of the Box Office / Publicity Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following:
BOX OFFICE
· Recruits and manages staff for the box office.
· Ensures new hire paperwork is filled out for the bookkeeper to process.
· Trains new hires on ticketing software or other programs as necessary.
· Ensures scheduling of box office staff for all required shifts.
· Inputs data into the ticketing system and creates reports as required.
· Answers phone calls and meets with the public in a professional, positive manner.
· Manages, trains and mentors volunteer staff in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator.
· Ensures that the office equipment is maintained in good order.
· Must be able to perform all duties required of those who are direct reports.
· Attends at least one performance of each FTP public performances.
PUBLICITY
· Development and execution of all publicity materials to include, but not limited to, the following:
o Print materials: posters, flyers, playbills, rack cards, newsletters, etc.
o On-line presence: email blast, website, social media accounts.
· Updates the website to provide information that is current, relevant, and accurate.
· Send information to other online calendar of events.
· Drafts press releases.
· Fosters positive relationships with the media (both editorial and advertising).
· Work may be accomplished with the assistance of an outside graphic designer, board, staff or committee members, or other consultants.
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive. As a small non-profit arts organization, all staff members are required to take on duties that are not apparent in their individual job description. It is expected that each employee will always strive to complete tasks necessary to keep the theatre operating successfully even if that includes working in areas to which they are not accustomed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A passion for and/or background in the arts
· Proficiency in operating a computer and required programs.
o (QuickBooks, MS Word, Excel, Access, Google calendar/email, Outlook, Ticket Software)
· Professional oral and written communication skills
· Willingness to learn new programs as necessary.
· Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion.
· The successful applicant will be required to submit to background check and drug screen.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
