THE SENIOR BRIDGE ENGINEER AT CPL

The Senior Bridge Engineer designs the “bones and muscles” of manmade structures for bridge systems spanning our diverse Transportation Practice projects. Reporting to a Principal or Project Manager, you perform in-depth calculations and evaluate engineering methodologies to provide optimal results and guarantee the safety of all end users.

You also work closely with our engineering teams throughout the conceptual design phase and provide oversight throughout the construction phase, ensuring that all plans adhere to predetermined specifications. You are conscientious and exacting in your work, recognizing that there is no margin for error in structural engineering.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• You maintain professional licensure (P.E.) in NY State.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills, and you manage public speaking with ease
• You have a comprehensive knowledge of mathematics as well as various bridge design standards, codes and regulations, and can implement them accordingly
• You have extensive experience producing structural modification drawings
• You’re highly proficient in MicroStation, Revit, AutoCAD and/or similar industry software programs, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite
• You demonstrate robust analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities

CORE DUTIES

• Prepare and design plans for new and/or rehabilitated bridge systems, or parts of systems
• Ensure conformity to engineering standards and best practices by methodically reviewing construction plans, calculations and cost estimators
• Evaluate plans and proposals prepared by other engineers, making modifications as needed
• Assist the assigned Project Manager in the preparation of budgets, schedules or specifications for labor and materials for each project
• Estimate total costs for bridge/transportation projects
• Collaborate with contractors, utility companies and/or government agencies regarding plans, work schedules and specifications
• Research code issues and develop educated strategies to satisfy code requirements
• Provide oversight and training to structural CAD Technicians
• Attend client meetings, prepare presentation materials and/or present on technical topics as directed
