This position is located in Pineville, NC at our senior living facilities Dorchester and Manor.

Summary/Objective

The Community Bus Driver provides reliable, safe transportation for residents to and from events in the area, such as grocery trips, community activities, and off-campus events. In addition, this position will serve as a backup to the front desk on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions

• Assists residents in and out of the vehicle when necessary
• Loads/unloads walkers, wheelchairs, and grocery carts
• Assists with unloading resident groceries into grocery carts
• Ensures resident safety and satisfaction are priorities, and accounts for presence of all residents when leaving or returning to community
• Keeps the community vehicle clean and properly maintained, including fueled at all times
• Prepares the bus for operation and works with maintenance team to coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance

This position has no supervisory responsibility

Work Environment

This position primarily works in and around our community’s bus. Primary environment includes being outside in the weather conditions of the day and driving in the elements of those weather conditions. Inside front desk would be in a climate-controlled environment.

Physical Demands

This position has prolonged periods of sitting. Standing, walking, and stooping are routinely required. Lifting objects up to 25 lbs. such as walkers, wheelchairs, grocery carts and groceries is regular, and lifting to 10 lbs. is frequent.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is a part-time position. Weekly hours may vary depending on the needs of the community, but the normal schedule is approximately 20-25 hours per week. Typical schedule is 9:30am – 3:00pm but varies depending on needs of the community. Some events will require longer days and hours.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to training courses may be required. Travel to and from areas in the Charlotte area, as well as moderately longer day trips within the region are required.

Required Education and Experience

Valid Class B license

Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed

Compassion for and desire to work with the senior community

Preferred Education and Experience

Two years of related transportation experience preferred
