The Division of Enterprise Services (DES) is hiring a Business Informatics Analyst for a full-time project position. The duration of this project position is anticipated to last no later than December 31, 2024. Project positions are eligible for benefits including health insurance; however, the incumbent will not obtain permanent civil service status.

This position has the ability to work remotely up to 3 days per week but may be required to report to an office location on occasion to complete certain tasks. This position can be headquartered at 1 W Wilson Street in Madison or one of our regional locations (below). This schedule may vary based on training or operational need.

Position Summary


The Business Informatics Analyst serves as the data steward and subject matter expert for the DHS Division of Enterprise Services. This position supports and advises executives and business leaders across DHS by providing data analyses and visualization for well-informed decision making. This position supports initiatives that improve and demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the DHS business services, including finance, procurement, facilities, human resources, project management, and information technology, software, and security.

This position creates and supports a culture of data-informed decision making and improvement initiatives to help achieve the organization’s strategic goals. The individual in this position is expected to perform advanced-level work and to coach employees and customers on using data and improvement tools, techniques, and measurements. They will serve as a subject matter expert who understands the tools and methods required to analyze and visualize data, the technical systems that store data and how to access the data, and the business operations that create the data.

Salary Information


The starting salary is between $37.50 and $44.50 per hour (approximately between $78,000 and $92,560 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This position is classified as an IS Business Automation Specialist and is in pay schedule and range 07/33. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

Job Details

  • All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
  • All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
  • Individuals hired into project positions must be State of Wisconsin residents at the time of hire.
  • DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data using technology tools such as Excel, R, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience implementing and supporting technology tools to provide on-demand analysis and decision making for users with a variety of professional backgrounds, including executive leadership.
  • Experience using information systems, applications, and database capabilities to access, transform, structure, and share data.
  • Experience communicating technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience developing, updating, maintaining, and teaching others to use Tableau.
  • Experience communicating and addressing limitations of data and methods to improve equity.
