Responsibilities:
The Role
The primary responsibilities of this position are to drive the performance of the Premier Nutrition Corp, PNC, brands. The position will be focused against creating and delivering the “Go-To-Market” strategies to ensure the achievement of PNC’s volume and EBITDA targets (strategy, development and analysis of the 4Ps (product assortment, pricing, promotion and placement), new product introductions and planning across all Customers). They will facilitate collaborative communication between the Internal HQ Teams and Sales Teams.

The position will also assist in the development of sales channel strategy, sales playbook (MAPS) sales business processes & communication. The position will also track and report on Sales Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and work with Director to coordinate the Strategic Account Planning Process.

The position will be based out of our 60,000 sq. foot, modern Emeryville, California office. WE ARE A CULTURE OF PERSONAL CONNECTON, WHICH IS WHY WE’VE CHOSEN A PERMANENT HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT WITH NORMS THAT EQUATE TO 2-3 DAYS MID-WEEK IN THE OFFICE FOR EMPLOYEES BASED IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. The expected pay scale for this role is $120k to $135k, which may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic area (if applicable), and internal equity for the role.

You’re
excited about this opportunity because your time will be filled with:
Sales Strategy & Business Planning (including Pricing & Trade): 40% of Time
  • Annual Planning: Work with assigned Field Sales Teams to ensure brand business plans, category objectives, priorities and strategies are being effectively translated into customer specific business plans.
  • Work with internal HQ team to develop “top down” insight driven national selling stories and promotional platforms (HQ events) for existing items and all new commercialization projects.
  • Assist Director with identifying insights that inform sales playbook (MAPS), go-to-market strategies and plans.
  • Leverage cross functional Resources, Tools, and Insights to Enable Execution: Become the expert in bringing together Loyalty Card, Panel, Shopper Insights, Research, and Analytic Tools to deliver unique insights.
  • Cross-functional partner in annual division Strategic Plan development, Brand AOP, and Sales AOP responsible for category forecasts, distribution impact to business, and strategies to improve share results.

Analytics & Reporting: 15% of Time
  • Develop & Automate reporting “toolkit” encompassing decomposition reporting, dashboards, promotional bump-charts, opportunity gap / “sea of green”, etc. from IRI and bedrock analytics.
  • Develop standardized Category Review templates for Regional and national customers.
  • Develop channel insights – including competitive intelligence to refine and build Channel strategy.
  • Be the Category Expert: Continuous monitoring and communicating changes in the category, with the competition, and with the shopper.

Customer & Category Development: 40% of Time
  • Oversees the production of category specific selling materials (Category 101’s, Category Strategy, New Item Selling, Core Item Rankings, Gold Standard Shelving, etc.) across all Channels (Grocery, Mass, Limited Assortment).
  • Collaborate with Field Selling Organization to create Customer specific “bottom up” sales presentations.
  • Work Closely with Category Director to deploy Category Vision initiative within key retailers.
  • Design and deploy test and learn in retail to drive future growth.

Sales Communication: 5% of Time
  • Assists in the planning and execution of sales meetings and quarterly Customer reviews.
  • Voice of sales at HQ with cross functional partners/meetings.
  • Voice of brands to assigned Field Sales Teams.

  • Administrivia like email, calendaring, expense reports, and other non-value-added work.
Qualifications:
What are we looking for?
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.

Skills:
  • Solid practical knowledge synthesizing POS data from syndicated sources (Nielsen/IRI, NPD, Euromonitor, etc.).
  • Understanding of IRI and Numerator panel usage.
  • Ability to demonstrate a growth mindset and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong use of influencing skills to gain alignment across internal/external key stakeholders.
