Our growing catering team is looking for someone who cares as deeply as we do about giving the perfect guest experience at every event. This position will focus primarily on sales and execution of on-site events at our Detroit and Ann Arbor locations.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Catering Experience Specialist is responsible for coordinating with clients before, during and after events both on and off site, working closely with clients to ensure their event is a success, and following up with the client to get feedback after the event. Must ensure proper documentation of all planned catering events and receipt of correct payment on or before the event date. The Catering Experience Specialist should seek out opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering event enhancement options. Must be onsite during event for high profile on and offsite orders and events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responding to calls, voicemails, texts and emails from current, former and prospective clients in a timely manner
- Promoting cooperative effort, a team spirit, and good morale among event staff
- Follow up with client post event to ensure customer satisfaction and solicit feedback
- Resolving complaints from customers in a polite, friendly manner
- Management of reservations, catering orders and event planning as applicable
- Responsible for assisting in the clients’ planning of the event, and must be available to clients at all times during their event
- Identify and communicate regularly with primary contact during the event
- Assist service staff during event as volume dictates
- Ensure necessary aesthetic and cleanliness of the restaurant or venue during the event
- Design a room layout for each event that accommodates clients’ menu/service model, seating preference and presentation and/or entertainment needs
- Communicate thoroughly with appropriate Chef and client to develop event menu and coordinate ordering and delivery of appropriate items
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read manuals and prepare computer reports as required
- Previous restaurant or event planning experience required
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
- Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Strong time management and organizational skills

The employee regularly comes into contact with water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood, and produce items. The employee is frequently required to wash hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
