Job Summary

This position will serve as a lead person for the office and be responsible for providing support to the department in developing, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining recruitment and transition activities, special projects, partnerships with school districts, community, and El Paso Community College (EPCC) departments.

Essential Functions

Achieve the overall recruitment and retention goals and objectives of the College’s mission and vision. Develop, plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate the implementation of presentations, workshops, and training, on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), accommodations, enrollment, retention, college environment, and benefits for students enrolling at EPCC and working with CSD. Coordinate and promote events, tours, resource fairs, and meetings. Assist in maintaining the CSD website and creating program materials.

Develop and coordinate activities to publicize the program. Promote information regarding CSD and the enrollment process. Disseminate information regarding CSD and various college services including Admissions & Registration, Testing, and Financial Aid. Assist students with the College enrollment process and forms.

Research, develop, or edit existing materials for recruitment and retention activities such as brochures and videos. Compile and maintain statistical data, submit reports pertaining to data collected. Develop and maintain a tracking system to be used for department improvements.

Develop and maintain a partnering relationship with school districts, community, and district departments. Serve as a liaison with faculty, deans, and other college departments within the district, including local high school special education teachers, transitional counselors, teachers, principals, students, parents, community organizations/agencies, and other external agencies.

Participate in staff development activities, committees, and serve as an integral part of the department team. Provide program input and CSD services. Work with CSD staff to keep current on CSD services and needs.

Review, recommend changes, and implement procedures and ensure policies are in adherence with the federal ADA.

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, communicate effectively both oral and written.

3. Effective leadership and team-building skills.

4. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

5. Experience making public presentations.

6. Ability to make decisions with conflicting information, to multi-task and work with multiple deadlines.

7. Working knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act.

Special Conditions:

1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.

Copies of transcripts must reflect completed coursework and conferred degrees. All academic coursework and degrees must be from an accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.

Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation cost for travel performed within the United States. The College will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging.
