VA-Com Online Employment Agency is urgently in need of Child Care Assistant.

Job Summary:

The Child Care Assistant will provide assistance to a child with special needs or autism and will be responsible for assisting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs in a child care setting. They will work closely with the lead teacher, therapists, and parents to ensure that each child receives appropriate care and support.

Responsibilities:

• Assist children with special needs, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in the child care setting.
• Work closely with the lead teacher to ensure that each child's individual needs are met.
• Provide individualized support and attention to children with special needs, including helping them with daily activities, providing behavioral support, and promoting social interaction.
• Work with therapists and other specialists to implement individualized plans for each child, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral therapy.
• Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on their child's progress and to discuss any concerns or issues that arise.
• Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all children in the child care setting, including monitoring activities and interactions to ensure that all children are treated with respect and dignity.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices for working with children with special needs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other special needs required.
• Knowledge of best practices for working with children with special needs, including behavioral support and therapeutic techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with parents, therapists, and other professionals.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping children with special needs reach their full potential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.

Salary: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
