JOB SUMMARY
This position works for the District Attorney's Office and works closely with children and families in child abuse investigation and medical exam settings serving as emotional support and helping families develop coping strategies. "This position does not perform counseling or therapeutic services"
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in a local college or university in a related field of study (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Human Studies)
- Completed at least two years of college course work
- Experience working with the public
- Experience working with youth
- Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass an annual criminal and child abuse background check and continually meet the requirements of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI)

- Greets child victims, witnesses and family members as they arrive for services. Distributes welcome kits and snacks, provides tours of building to increase their comfort with their surroundings prior to the forensic interview.
- Prepares Crisis Intervention Kits for caregivers with CVR applications and educational materials based on specific needs of family to promote coping strategies. Creates kits for Spanish-speaking clients.
- Monitors the behavior of children in the building and outside play areas. Respond to distressed children to support, reassure, and reduce stress for the child. Engages in play activity to increase their comfort.
- Conducts parent feedback surveys in person and over the telephone to gather feedback as required by the NCA OMS (Outcome Measurement System). Conducts data entry on paper survey results.
- Conducts victim feedback forms with children and teens.
- Conducts supportive follow up calls to caregivers to assess victim and family adjustment and determine unmet needs. Refers ongoing needs to CJC staff to resolve their specific problems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
