University of Virginia’s Information Technology Services department seeks a Cloud Applications and Software as a Service (SaaS) Administrator. The Cloud Applications Administrator (CAA) will act as the product manager and administrator of enterprise cloud-based applications provided by central IT and used by University departments, faculty, staff and students.
The CAA will work in tandem with senior technology analysts on the enterprise license management team to devise provisioning and management methodologies enabling efficient, effective, and compliant delivery of SaaS products such as Qualtrics, Box, DocuSign, Zoom, LogMeIn, Eventbrite, and other industry leading products. The CAA will work with project and operations teams to integrate and support these services, as well as with Enterprise and Infrastructure Systems, Identity Services, and Access Management teams to leverage LDAP and Active Directory data to drive provisioning, entitlement, and deprovisioning processes.

Key activities and responsibilities for the Cloud Application Administrator include:
SaaS Administration
- Dashboard/portal configuration
- User management
- API configuration
- Documentation
- Scripting
- Advanced (L3) Engineer Support
Vendor and Stakeholder Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with a variety of SaaS vendors and support.
- Connect and build relationships with stakeholders across grounds and within ITS
- Partner with Information Security to ensure appropriate compliance.
Project Management
- Independently run departmental projects
- CIO Project Participation and Executive Reporting
Required Qualifications
- At least 7 years of related work experience OR a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience
- General SaaS Administrative Concepts
- Experience interacting with, using scripts with, or leveraging Directory software (Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP) for improving processes or integrating systems.
- Experience maintaining strong relationships vendors.
- The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment as well as flexibility in the scope of duties assigned.
- Ability to absorb information from multiple sources, filtering and translating that input into meaningful information, that when shared with appropriate stakeholders creates value and assists with decision making.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Experience managing SaaS applications and interfacing with Identity Management systems
- Experience understanding and writing scripts in common scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell)
- Experience administering SaaS systems, managing access and entitlement provisioning
- Experience interpreting complex directory system data and applying this knowledge to system design and operation
- Demonstrated skill querying, manipulating, and parsing large amounts of data
- Experience using and applying Information Security principles and best practices, including performing risk analysis on cloud application configurations
- Knowledge of basic user attributes and role structures used by directory services such as LDAP, ability to define directory filters for correct access, and ability to assess the impact of application of roles within SaaS environments
- Ability to understand and use APIs to automate processes including retrieval and update data
- Familiarity with database management concepts and architectures
- Knowledge and understanding of data flow diagrams and logic
- Skilled in creation and maintenance of high-quality technical documentation
- Ability to review, analyze and troubleshoot errors of cloud applications using detailed log data
- Experience configuring installers for locally installed software clients such as CrashPlan, Zoom, etc.
- Familiarity with both Microsoft and MacOS operating systems
- Knowledge of basic DNS terminology and concepts
- Knowledge of the principles of Single Sign-On (ie: Shibboleth or SAML) for configuring and testing SSO integrations in SaaS services
Anticipated Hiring Range: $85,000 – $96,700

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
