Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
I. Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent is required; satisfactory completion of Certified Nurse Aide Program; certification must be current and the CNA must be in good standing with the IDPH Registry. Satisfactory completion of the formal classes of orientation as provided by an in-service training course, provided by the home; ability to learn and apply nursing techniques for the care of the patients; ability to maintain an understanding attitude toward patients; ability to read and follow written and oral instructions; ability to keep records; ability to perform manual work, including lifting, knowledge of and ability to apply rehabilitation nursing techniques.

II. Summary of Duties

Under the direction and supervision of professional nursing personnel, provides sub-professional routine care for patients and performs related duties as may be required.

III. Examples of Duties

Administers bedside and general care to patients, including bathing, combing hair, shaving, dressing, answering calls for assistance, furnishing bed pans and urinals, serving and feeding; encourages patients to participate in all forms of rehabilitation to promote activity of mind and body; makes beds; gives back care; positions, transfers and transports patients; assists patients in moving and walking; encourages patients to do as much for themselves as possible within their capabilities; reports to the nurse in charge and records; checks patient’s clothing and notifies the head nurse of patient’s needs; stores and distributes clean laundry in an orderly fashion; washes and cleans bathing area; utility rooms, refrigerators, wheelchairs, and other equipment; deposits trash and soiled linen in appropriate areas; maintains patient morale; greets and directs visitors; passes nourishments, etc. as needed and takes TPR of all or given patients assigned. Works in any area assigned; and participates in continuing education programs.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
