Department/ Area:

Machine Shop

Daily Activities of A CNC Lathe setup operator

· Set up and operate all CNC lathe machines.

· Write basic programs at the machines.

· Proof all programs, and make edits as required.

· Performs visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections of all tools and dies as required.

· Operate multiple machines when appropriate.

· Other duties as assigned to help the team meet its goals.

The Physical Requirements

· Flexible and long hours are sometimes required. Physically medium-duty work required.

· Requires standing continuously and walking and occasionally sitting throughout the day.

· Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25-50 pounds frequently.

Expected Experience and Education

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of three (5) years in set-up and operation of CNC lathe machines with live tooling.

· Familiarity with Fanuc control Doosan, Samsung CNC Lathes with live tooling, and Haas, Mills.

The Technical Skills

· Computer skills to load programs; ability to edit computer programs.

· Advanced knowledge of blueprints and measuring devices.

· Working knowledge of all measuring devices, including micrometers and calipers.

· Ability to edit programs at the machine.

· Ability to make offsets and hold tight tolerance of +/-.0002”

· Ability to use various types of hand tools, grinders, and drills.

· Demonstrated ability to operate multiple machines when appropriate.

· Ability to write notes, instructions, and other written communication items.
